A View On The Miracle of LIfe Script - Subject To Change

Thought: Life is a miracle…

Speech: (Life is a miracle) if someone sees life as anything less than miraculous they are either lying or deceiving themselves in a way as bad as death itself. Life is for the living so today I am going to live my life.

Thought: I am life…

Speech: (I am life) if I am living and I am natural then surely I am life. There is no other way for me to see it, as a result I am compelled to see each and every day as mine and mine alone, I feel I must seize the day.

Thought: Amazing…

Speech: (It is amazing) how frail life is, how fragile and meek the miracle of life can be. But at the same time, life, especially in nature can be something grand and powerful, something which wholly induces fear into the hearts of many.

Thought & Speech: A shattered dream like a far off memory.

A far off memory like a shattered dream.

Thought: There are so many people…

Speech: (there are so many people) that surround me in the world but I am isolated in my thoughts. As is the norm other people think about many different things other than the natural world but I am consumed in asking the question of life. Whether I live my life the right way or if I am destined to fall from the natural world like so many before me.

Thought: The sheer beauty…

Speech: (The sheer beauty) of the world around me and in the distance is astonishing. Because of our human nature we don’t appreciate the world, we seek to destroy our world in an eternal effort to reach the stars.

Thought: But…

Speech: (But) to reach the stars beyond our solar system is an impossible dream… Humanity specialises in the impossible, because we are THE most impossible thing that we know or will ever know.

Thought: Impossible is nothing…

Speech: (Impossible is nothing) Nature is impossible, we are impossible, the miracle of life is impossible. Because we all have similarities we are the same thing, so as we destroy the world we destroy the beauty of humanity.

Speech: It is hard to see anything apart from what is right in front of you and humanity chooses not to even see that, we lose a chunk of our humanity everyday a fascist government retains power and allows The Earth and nature to become nothing but dust and echoes.

Speech: And that is what awaits humanity we are destined to die. We are destined to become nothing but dust and echoes, we are the creators of destruction in the world and we will destroy ourselves.

Story-boarding

Film person getting into car. Shoot from behind or from the side of the car.

Film person getting into car from behind. Film over the shoulder shot. Film out of windscreen.

Shoot from the top of a hill in Herrington park onto the lake/reservoir. Pan across from left to right. As person walks from one side of the lake to the other.

Film from behind with over the shoulder shot. Track person with hand held camera before moving into stationary as person walks past the camera to watch them move away.

Film the person getting into the car. Either from the side or from behind them.

Film the car journey, possibly filming out of the windscreen.

Film the person in a crowd of people whilst they stand still. I no longer want to film the architecture in the area.

Film the person getting into the car either from behind or from the side. Film the car journey possibly filming through the windscreen.

Film parts of Kielder Forest and surrounding area whilst the person looks at certain things/areas

Fade into the black night sky. Originally i planned to use a sunset in the closing scenes but with the change in season this has become problematic, as has filming the black night sky so i may instead use a scene with an expanse of water ie a lake or wear.

Recce

Lighting - I would like to use natural lighting as much as possible but i will need the use of torches or other lighting as it gets darker.


Locations - Border forest, Herrington Park, Match Day At The Sunderland Stadium Of Light.


Backgrounds - I would prefer to just use the setting as the background rather than using an artificial background.


Risks - Damage to equipment, car accident, accident while on location.


Trip Hazards - None.


Traffic - Traffic and the risks involved should be limited and traffic should only be a concern during the scene shot from inside the car.


Problems/Opportunities - Early darkness could help whilst filming the latter scenes i.e sun set, fade into night sky.


Weather - It is likely to be raining or snowing whilst also being generally overcast. I would like some sunny scenes. 


Health and Safety - I don't think that there should be too many problems regarding H&S with only minor risks likely to occur.

About a girl was produced by Brian Percival and Eight was produced by Working Title Films. Working title films is currently a division of Universal studios having originally been run by Polygram, Eight was produced whilst under Polygram. Brian Percival produced and directed About A Girl, Percival is an award winning director and many of his works have been critically acclaimed including About A Girl for which he won best British short film. Because Percival doesn’t work for a specific company he has been able to make many mini-series and has even directed several episodes of Downton Abbey.  

Working Title make many short films and they also produce feature films, I think that Working Title Films would be a perfect company to produce my short film because have extensive experience in the field and would be able to strongly publicise the film. 

Music Mania - AS Project - Skills Development

This is my finished magazine from my AS course. Although i was pleased with the finished article at the time looking back there are some points that i could have improved on and i aim to show that in my A2 work. I feel that my front page was my best piece of work out of the three images shown, but i think that i could have done much better with my contents page the images i picked arent coherent and two of them don't even look like they should be in a music magazine. I feel that i could have done better with my double page spread but over all i am happy with the final product.

This is my preliminary task. Although i feel that the finished video was good i think that it would have been better if i had taken a few differently angled shots.
